After the grandeur of Cold Mountain, Anthony Minghella goes down a more low key route to create a refreshingly thoughtful affair. Jude Law plays a well-to-do Londoner whose life is turned upside down after a burglary. After trying to capture the intruder he comes into contact with refugee Amira (Juliette Binoche, mesmerising as ever) and begins to re-evaluate his life. This is a dramatic and emotional piece of work that effectively contrasts the affluent side of London with its 'hidden' population.
