From Dust is an essential cinematic exposé that takes an incisive look at a government's response to a natural disaster. Shot in Sri La n ka in the aftermath of the Asian tsunami the film questions why survivors weren 't allowed to rebuild their homes along the coastline. Ulterior motives emerge that are stalling the rebuilding effort including a '100 meter rule', which designates an area of coastline for development, ignoring the rights of those who lived there in favour of business opportunities that arise in the wake of natural disaster.
Councillor Terry Grayshon will be attending the screenings on behalf of Sam's Appeal, a charity project based in Morley working to rebuild lives in Sri Lankan village Thirukkovil since the Tsumani. Check out the website for more details: http://www.samsproject.com/.
