Danielson: a Family Movie is a playful and engaging documentary encompassing interview, collage, animation and ex t raordinary musical performances to explore creativity, accessibility, family, religious values and popular culture. The film follows Daniel Smith, an eccentric musician and visual artist, as he leads his four siblings and best friend to indie-rock stardom as The Danielson Family, mentors the subsequently successful Sufjan Stevens and then struggles to maintain a solo career in which his Christian message and oddball sensibilities make his huge talent difficult to categorise.
