My Name is Albert Ayler
The Hi-Fi Club off Boar Lane
8th November • 8pm
A penetrating and deeply moving portrait of the mercurial jazz innovator Albert Ayler whose fascinating but difficult music and tragically short life give substance to an intriguingly stylised documentary. Featuring testimony from proud family members and awestruck musical collaborators including his troubled brother Donald who was both, the film takes in his extensive European travels especially in Sweden, incredible archive footage including his startling performance at his mentor John Coltrane's funeral, and the tragic discovery of his body in the East River in 1970.

We are hoping that director Kasper Collin will be attending the screening.
