Hara's most famous film is one of the greatest documentaries ever made and was both hugely popular and controversial on its original release in Japan. It features the extraordinary character, Kenzo Okuzaki, a veteran of the New Guinea campaign in World War Two, recently released from prison for throwing stones at the Emperor. He is obsessed with a bizarre and horrific military cover up and determinedly tracks down and confronts the officers responsible. Hara unflinchingly follows him along the way even as the altercations become violent.
