A Cottage on Dartmoor with live Organ Accompaniment
Holy Trinity Church on Boar Lane
12 November • 8.30pm
The tragic tale of a young barber's thwarted love which leads to the attempted murder of his rival in a barbershop brawl. A Cottage on Dartmoor is a fine example of a neglected British classic from the expressive late silent period. By this time, the visual means of storytelling had become sophisticated enough to minimise the use of intertitles, a peak in the early cinematic art form that even took a step back with the static and stagey early "talkies". Featuring live organ accompaniment by city organist, Simon Lindley.
