This incredible, multi award-winning film introduces 28 year-old Malalai Joya, a formidable Afghan woman who challenged head-on former warlords at a 'democracy' meeting in 2003, bravely speaking out: 'Many of you here in this hall have blood on your hands and you should be tried in the world court'. She was immediately thrown out. Malalai continues to fight these 'enemies of happiness', campaigning for election in the National Assembly, and going into hiding to avoid assassination attempts. This unbelievable freedom fighter brings hope to a persecuted people and sheer awe and inspiration to us. Magnificent.
