Much like A Bittersweet Life, No Mercy for the Rude hilariously parodies tough gangster cinema while serving up its own menu of moody doom and good old ultra-violence. No Mercy's nameless hero with a speech impediment swaps a career as an expert radish shredder for life as a highly-feared knife-swinging hitman. All he wants is to save up to correct his voice and become a matador, of course, but everyone is in his way. Side-splitting comedy moments come care of a speech doctor and bad-hair cops with terrible interrogation tactics. Screening with Birthday Boy (Netherlands, 8 mins) A birthday they will never forget...
