A beautifully engaging, real life classroom drama as poetic and unaffected as Nicolas Philibert's surprise hit Etre et Avoir, Please Vote for Me reveals a great deal about modern Chinese society and democracy itself. Wuhan is a city in central China about the size of London, and a grade 3 class at Evergreen Primary School has their first encounter with democracy by holding an election to select a Class Monitor. Ambitious eight-year olds compete against each other for the coveted position, abetted and egged on by teachers and doting parents.

An animated encounter between voices that reflect upon political commitment and its absence. Martine tells us about her first political steps in 68 to her discovery of the participatory model of Porto Alegre and Arnaud, disappointed by democracy, wonders about the point of politics.
