A beautiful documentary recounting female experiences of the Red Army's Long March in China - lasting almost 3 years – through interviews with aged survivors. These feisty, strong women describe their harrowing and fascinating experiences and recite old propaganda songs. With absolutely stunning shots of rural China and a soundtrack composed by the renowned Tang Quartet, 'Feet Unbound' takes its title from the practice of binding women's feet which was challenged and undermined by the very nature of the Long March, defining an important – and little-documented - movement in the liberation of women.
