First displayed in Munich in 1997 and later revised in 2001, the exhibition, "Crimes of the German Wehrmacht," created huge controversy amongst former German soldiers, soldiers' families and neo-Nazis who still insist that the German infantry knew nothing of the atrocities carried out against civilians and Jews on the Eastern front. The exhibition curators passionately defend their findings with a huge array of archived material including official documents, photographs and original interviews. Michael Verhoeven's compelling documentary challenges recent accepted historical views and examines Germany's changing relationship with the Holocaust.
