What's Under Your Hat? is a fascinating insight into the nature of outsider art and a warm tribute to Judith Scott, an artist who works from a very unusual space: the isolation caused by her handicap. She was born with Down's Syndrome and diagnosed as 'severely mentally retarded' at age seven, removed from her family and institutionalised. No one realised that she was deaf until she was 40 years old. Now she is an internationally recognised artist whose sculptures have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world.
