Opening Gala
This screening will be British Sign Language interpreted for the deaf and hard of hearing.
It's a long English summer in the 80's. Meet Will, a member of the Plymouth Brethren who abide by a strict moral code meaning Will is not allowed to mix with the other kids, the 'worldlies'; nor is he allowed to watch TV or listen to music. Enter Lee Carter, school terror and home movie-maker.
A chance viewing of the Sylvester Stallone film Rambo blows Will's mind and he thinks it would be a great idea to become the stuntman for Carter's home movie version of the 80's classic. This whole new world and the process of making their film is a glorious rollercoaster that eventually leads to true friendship but when French exchange student, Didier Revol turns up, their unique friendship and their precious film are pushed, quite literally, to breaking point.
The unmissable tale of two boys with a big video camera and even bigger ambitions, Son of Rambow is a comedy about friendship, faith and the tough business of growing up.
