Passing through a magic hearth, Tom finds himself in the middle of the Second World War. He soon becomes friends with May, a little girl who has lost her parents, and with Sam, a grumpy farmer and his daughter. When Tom manages to return back to the present day he discovers some news which starts him on an epic adventure to change the past in time to save his new friends.
