Cancer Research UK Short Film Screening and Q&A

wish143webOct 15th, 7:30pm, Thackray Medical Museum, Leeds. Free event, donations on the night are welcome We’re working in partnership with the Cancer Research UK Leeds Centre to put on an evening of inspiring short films set in Leeds, giving funny, tender and emotional insights into living with cancer.

Oscar nominated ‘Wish 143’ sees a teenage boy coping with his cancer in forthright fashion whilst ‘Would Like To Meet’ tells the story of a wife taking unusual steps to ensure her husband’s happiness after her death.

Tom Bidwell, the writer of both films, will introduce them and will then be joined on a Q&A panel by Sam Holland, star of Wish 143, and Cancer Research Centre doctors and scientists who will explain their vital work looking after patients and investigating new treatments.

As a bonus we will also be showing ‘Leeds Actually Is You’, an inspirational short film about a cancer patient and the staff who cared for him here in Leeds. Made by two University of Leeds students, the film recently won a University Alumni competition.

Please note that both main films contain adult themes and occasional use of swear words. They are not suitable for anyone aged under 16 or anyone who may be offended by such content.

If you would like to join us for a very interesting evening you will need to reserve seats in advance. Tea coffee and biscuits will be provided.
