A fascinating cult oddity from the end of the East German era, the title is a play on words, merging the irreverent Dada art movement of the 1920s and the German acronym for East Germany. In a series of cabaret pieces, two clowns played by Steffen Mensching and Hans-Eckardt Wenzel – legendary East German songwriter-poets and comedians – satirize East German life in the historic year after the Wall came down. Only granted leave from prison to sing for people outside, the clowns perform as the country sinks into rebellion.
