Eco-Pirate profiles the controversial environmental crusader Captain Paul Watson, a man on a mission to save the planet and its oceans. He repeatedly flouts the law to apprehend what he sees as the more serious law-breakers, the illegal poachers of the world. Featuring gripping verité sequences shot aboard his ship, the film interrogates his personal history as an activist through archival footage and interviews and the impact of this relentless pursuit on his personal life. From the genesis of Greenpeace to recent headline-grabbing battles with the Japanese whaling fleet in Antarctica, witness the heroics, the ego and the urgency of the world’s original eco-pirate.
