An evocative wilderness documentary about the life of the indigenous people living in the heart of the Siberian Taiga directed by Russian filmmaker Dmitry Vasyukov, written and narrated by Werner Herzog. The camera follows a trapper through all four seasons of a year, beginning and ending in the small village of Bakhtia, population 300, a region only accessible by boat or helicopter where the locals’ daily routines have barely changed over the last centuries. During the hunting season he travels between remote hunter’s lodges often hundreds of miles from another human being.
