Never Make It Home chronicles the final tour of ‘insurgent country’ band Split Lip Rayfield, a barnstorming punk-bluegrass band led by hellraiser singer/guitarist Kirk Rundstrum. Kirk is diagnosed with throat cancer and given only months to live, but with steely determination and a passionate conviction to his craft, he sets out on a last tour, thrilling audiences across America’s heartland. The camera captures electrifying live performances and rapturous crowds, intimate, funny and moving backstage antics and emotional interviews, tribute to a great performer and a heartrenching finale to a life on the road.
