The Film Festival is thrilled to present, for one night only, Professor Vanessa’s Performing Wonders, an evening of cine-variety and spectacular entertainments. Featuring early films from the Library of Congress, Lobster Films and the National Fairground Archive with live piano accompaniment, vintage ephemera, and performances by internationally renowned artists including Olivier award Sword-swallower and eccentric comedienne Miss Behave, Hoola Hoop legend Marawa the Amazing, and musical accompaniment by Stephen Horne. An extravagant showcase of neo-variety acts and the late-Victorian and Edwardian performance cultures that inspire them! With rare archival material from the Evanion Collection courtesy of the British Library.
