The discovery of the Snowtown murders in 1999 shocked Australia to its core. A gang of serial killers controlled by the notorious John Bunting had butchered 11 victims around Adelaide and stored their remains in barrels of acid. One of the killers, teenager James Vlassakis, had lived with his mother and brothers in an already desperate situation when Bunting came into their lives. Kurzel’s extraordinary debut is an unforgettably realistic account of Vlassikis’ tragic passage from innocent kid to a monster’s accomplice. Snowtown is the first feature from the Australian offshoot of Yorkshire’s trail-blazing Warp Films.
