Made at the end of the communist era in Hungary, Ildiko Enyedi’s surreal odyssey tracks the progress of female identity through the accelerating mechanical age of the early twentieth century. Boasting an extraordinary triple role for the excellent Dorothy Segda as identical twins Dora and Lili and their mother. Born on the day Edison invents the light bulb, Dora and Lili are separated in childhood and follow different paths to meet again on the Orient Express, one a pampered courtesan, the other a feminist anarchist.
