Spearheading the recent trend of intelligent, political animation, Waltz with Bashir cleverly manipulates its unique style to interrogate the process of memory through traumatic experiences. One night at a bar, an old friend tells director Ari Folman about a recurring nightmare in which he is chased by 26 vicious dogs. They conclude that there’s a connection to their Israeli Army mission in the first Lebanon War. Ari is surprised that he can’t remember that period of his life and decides to interview old comrades to rediscover the truth. As he delves deeper, his memory begins to creep up in surreal images…
