Join the INDIs Programmers who coordinate and programme the monthly INDIs Movie Nights, and the annual INDIs Festival.

We're searching for a group of young people passionate about film to help programme the monthly INDIs Movie Night screenings. If you're aged under 25* and are keen on expanding your film knowledge, watching more films, and want to receive programming experience and knowledge from the team behind the UK's largest film festival outside of London, then apply to join the Young Programmers Group today!

What's Involved?

  • Programme a live, year-round selection of film screenings, including branding and promotion.
  • Watch and review films in consideration for our other film festivals (Leeds Young Film Festival and INDIs Film Festival).
  • Meet and network with like-minded young professionals and film-lovers.
  • Design and develop the branding of the INDIs programme.
  • Become an ambassador for film in the city and gain access to valuable experience.
  • Access real-life industry opportunities from regional and national partners.

Previous events

Previous events have included a showcase of the cult online web series Salad Fingers with creator David Firth, a screening of the cult indie musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch with a live performance from local, award-winning drag queen The Witch Blair and a fully immersive, interactive screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

This is a rare and invaluable opportunity to gain real-life experience of events planning and provides access into the world of film festivals and programming. Some of the perks include receiving free tickets to the INDIs Film Festivals and the Leeds International Film Festival.

The Young Programmers will meet in Leeds City Centre. If you're interested in joining the INDIs Young Programmers Group, email: eleanor.hodson@leeds.gov.uk to register.

At present, due to COVID-19, the group is meeting online but we hope to return to face-to-face meetings when we're able.
