Leeds Young Film supports young people, students and young adults who are keen to progress an interest or career in film through its INDIs (Independent Directions) strand of activity.
INDIs Film Festival
We're thrilled to be back in person for our 12th INDIs Festival next year!
The INDIs (Independent Directions) Film Festival will return from 22-26 February 2023 to celebrate a love of cinema and emerging filmmaking talent. The programme will include screenings, workshops and networking events led by screen industry professionals and supported by the BFI.
Interested in what we get up to? Check out last year's programme!

This year's INDIs Festival

Alongside the film festival, we also host the free INDIs Film Network which provides support and guidance as well as sharing industry training and development opportunities.
INDIs Movie Nights
In addition to the annual festival we also present regular monthly screenings including a mixture of previews, independent films and alternative content.

INDIs Programmers
Anyone (over the age of 15) interested in curating and programming the film festival can join the Young Programmers group. This is free to join and members meet fortnightly (currently online) to share ideas, films and programme themes. If you would like to join or find out more please email Eleanor Hodson on eleanor.hodson@leeds.gov.uk
BFI Film Academy
Leeds Young Film delivers the BFI Film Academy Network programme in Leeds each year. This NCFE accredited course is supported by the DfE (Department for Education) and successful participants will receive a Level 2 Award in Preparing to Work in the Film Industry.
Submissions for the 2020/21 programme are now closed but we hope to run the course again in the 2021/22 academic year. Make sure you are following us @leedsyoungfilm to get up to date news.
