Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) is one of the UK's leading annual film events, the Academy Award, BAFTA and BIFA-qualifying festival primarily supports the work of new filmmakers from the UK and across the world. In 2023, LIFF had over 250 screenings representing 82 countries. Our venues include cinemas like Hyde Park Picture House, Vue at The Light Leeds and Everyman Leeds.
The 37th edition of LIFF will take place between 1 - 17 November 2024. As a volunteer, you will be part of an incredible team at one of the UK's leading film festivals, gaining work experience and developing valuable skills. You will have the chance to see new films ahead of their release date and receive four free tickets to screenings (subject to availability). Experience a unique festival atmosphere and meet others who love cinema.
As a volunteer you should being part of a team and collaborating with others while driven to help make LIFF one of the best audience experiences in the UK. It helps to be passionate about film, especially independent British and international filmmaking, and be reliable and available across at least four different days during the LIFF 2024 dates.

VENUE ASSISTANTS
Venue Assistant volunteers help run festival screenings at Leeds International Film Festival. Leading on ushering, checking tickets, assisting Venue Coordinators and reporting technical faults at screenings. A passion for film and excellent customer service skills are a must!

FESTIVAL TRAINEES
Festival Trainee is the role is for those who want more behind-the-scenes experience of LIFF and who might want to work at film and other arts festivals or in the film industry. There will be training sessions with the LIFF team ahead of the film festival to give more insight into areas like programming, production, partnership development, and marketing. These volunteers also take on a wide variety of tasks to help the smooth running and operation of the film festival. An ability to think on your feet and boundless enthusiasm are a must!

PHOTOGRAPHERS
As a festival photographer, you’ll cover a variety of screenings, Q&As, and behind-the-scenes events. Your task is to capture a selection of images that showcase the festival, which will be used across social media, publications, and promotional materials. This role is perfect for anyone with a passion for photography or looking to expand their portfolio. Please note that photographers must use their own equipment and be prepared to work in low-light environments.

DIGITAL AND COMMS ASSSISTANT
As a Digital & Comms Assistants, you’ll work closely with the communications team, assisting with daily tasks throughout the festival. Your duties may include creating copy or assets for social media, organizing digital materials like photos and clips, coordinating the distribution of marketing content and working with Video and Edit Volunteers to create social media videos. This role offers a comprehensive insight into how the communications team operates during the festival, making it an excellent opportunity for gaining hands-on experience in digital media and marketing.

VIDEO & EDIT VOLUNTEERS
This year, we’ve combined our Video Volunteer and Edit Assistant roles into a new and improved role. You’ll primarily be based in our new Media Room, where you’ll assist in setting up and operating recording equipment for guest interviews. Your responsibilities will include importing and organizing shot footage, as well as editing and creating clips for social media using Adobe Premiere Pro. You may also be involved in filming videos for our social media channels alongside other volunteers and assisting the official videographer capturing footage across the festival. Additional editing shifts will be available in the lead-up to the festival. Please note: While having your own camera and/or laptop is beneficial, basic equipment will be provided. Video and Edit Volunteer shifts will mainly be on weekends so please take this into account when applying for roles.
