Leeds International Film Festival Submissions

Tickets now on sale for Alan Moore / Mitch Jenkins Q&A with SHOW PIECES

We are thrilled to announce that Alan Moore, one of the greatest graphic novelists of all time, will attend the 28th Leeds International Film Festival with Show Pieces, his new film collaboration with director Mitch Jenkins. From the creator of ground-breaking works including Watchmen, The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell, and V For Vendetta, Show Pieces is Alan Moore’s first endeavour written specifically for the screen and made with his ongoing creative involvement. Show Pieces was brought to life by award winning photographer-turned-director Mitch Jenkins and is set within a nightmarish alternative version of the creators’ native Northampton.

Show Pieces will screen at LIFF28 as part of Fanomenon, the UK’s largest multi-genre fantasy film festival, on November 14 at Leeds Town Hall. There will be a Q&A with Alan Moore and Mitch Jenkins following a screening of the following three short films from the Show Pieces project (summaries written by Alan Moore):

Act Of Faith: Faith Harrington, a young female reporter on a local newspaper who has an exotic private life, prepares for a stimulating evening at home that doesn’t go according to plan. Watch the trailer here.

Jimmy’s End: Louche and hard-drinking womaniser James Mitchum finds himself wandering into one strange bar too many. Watch the trailer here.

His Heavy Heart: Picks up the narrative of the hapless James Mitchum from a point following his dreadful realisation at the conclusion of Jimmy’s End. In a grotesque parody of Egyptian funerary rites, James is shepherded less than gently into his unenviable afterlife. Watch the trailer here.

Show Pieces is presented courtesy of Lex Records who will release the films in a special box set in the autumn. Find out more details here.
