Beasts of the Southern Wild screening at Leeds Young Film Festival

Leeds Young Film Festival is very pleased to announce Beasts of the Southern Wild as its 2013 Closing Gala screening. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and will screen at Hyde Park Picture House on Thursday 5th April. Please click here for tickets.

There are films for viewers of all ages at the 14th Leeds Young Film Festival, which is celebrating some of this year’s milestones in cinema. There is an 80th Anniversary screening of King Kong; a 50th Anniversary screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds; 25th Anniversary screenings of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Cinema Paradiso and Beetlejuice, which leads a retrospective of Tim Burton’s work, also including Big Fish and Alice in Wonderland,.

Anime fans can enjoy a 25th Anniversary screening of Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbour Totoro, as well as new films Oblivion Island and Berserk 2.. Berserk 2 was a big hit at the 26th Leeds International Film Festival, as was Ernest and Celestine, one of our highest ranking audiences favourites, which gets another screening at LYFF 2013. Also, you’re never too old to enjoy a documentary about stop motion animation legend Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan.
