The final submissions deadline for the 32nd Leeds International Film Festival passed on 31st July: a total of 5,749 features and shorts were submitted from 116 countries. The LIFF32 programming teams have been considering submissions since January and the final 2018 selection will be announced on 3rd October.

Taking place from 1st to 15th November, LIFF32 will feature five main programme sections: Official Selection for new narrative features; Cinema Versa for documentaries; Fanomenon for genre cinema; a major retrospective to be announced in early September; and Leeds Short Film Awards.

Over 100 short films will compete for the Leeds Short Film Awards from 1st to 4th November, with nine awards presented:

  • Louis le Prince International Short Film Award (Academy Award qualifying)
  • World Animation Award (Academy Award qualifying)
  • British Short Film Award (BAFTA qualifying)
  • Yorkshire Short Film Award (BAFTA qualifying)
  • Leeds International Screendance Award
  • Leeds International Music Video Award
  • Leeds International Queer Film Award
  • Leeds Short Film Audience Award
