The Golem + Live Organ Accompaniment
Paul Wegener’s German expressionist horror classic is presented in a free screening in the magnificent surroundings of Leeds Town Hall with dramatic live organ accompaniment by Leeds city organist Simon Lindley. The Golem is based on a Jewish legend and adapted from the 1915 novel by Gustave Meyrick. It is set in the Jewish ghetto of medieval Prague in which the Rabbi Loew creates a giant out of clay who he animates with sorcery to become the fearsome Golem and save his people from persecution.
Join us for this special free event, a glass of fine Sicilian wine included! Magma – Mostra di Cinema Breve is an international short film festival which takes place in Acireale, a baroque town situated in the Eastern part of Sicily (Italy). LIFF26 is delighted to welcome Magma to Leeds to present a special selection of their international programming, including many of their jury award winners. The programme includes former Magma Grand Prix winner Last Train from Polish director Weronika Tofilska, about a desperately unhappy man who seeks refuge from his reality by retracing memories of his first love.
