The Leeds Young Film Festival 2019 Giant Jury began watching the films in consideration for the prestigious Golden Wings Jury Award on Monday 8 April, coming to a decision after watching the thirteen feature-films, and six live-action short films in competition.

Golden Wings Jury Award: Short Film Winner

The winner of the Golden Wings Jury Award for the live-action short film is Granbad (dir. Annabel Vine), which explores the story of a young dyslexic boy who shows a bully that it isn't 'soppy' to love your grandad. Granbad is awarded the Golden Wings Jury Award, and $100USD.

Golden Wings Jury Award: Feature Film Special Mention

The Jury gave a special mention for Best Feature Film in the Festival to two of their close favourites: Supa Modo (dir. Likarion Wainaina) and The Runaways (dir. Richard Heap). The decision was an incredibly difficult one, and the Jury debated for some time before deciding on their final winner.

Golden Wings Jury Award: Feature Film Winner

The winner of the Golden Wings Jury Award for the feature-film category is Zombillenium (dirs. Arthur de Pins, Alex Ducord), which tells of a health and safety inspector who unwillingly gets 'hired' by a horror-themed amusement park run by werewolves, zombies, witches and vampires. Zombillenium is awarded the Golden Wings Jury Award, and $250USD.
