LIFF26 got off to a fantastic start last night with our sold out Opening Gala film, Ben Affleck’s Argo preceded by a Special Preview of Rust and Bone. There was overwhelmingly positive feedback about both films. Argo is Ben Affleck’s directorial debut, and will recieve an extra screening on Saturday 3rd November, 8.30pm at Leeds Town Hall. Please click here for tickets.
The first LIFF26 weekend is one that will be characterised by a great deal of very special, Fanomenon-style horror at the Hyde Park Picture House between tonight’s triple bill of Sighteers (with star Steve Oram in attendance), Excision and Maniac), followed by tomorrow’s Night of the Dead 12 extravaganza. The overnighter is excellent value at £25/£20 (concession) or £15 with a LIFF26 pass, and runs for over 12 hours after it’s 10pm start. It features A Little Bit Zombie, Wither, the World Premiere of Meteletsa: Winter of the Dead (with Director Nikolai Pigarev in attendance), 13 Eerie and the very highly anticipated V/H/S.
There’s also European Black Comedy, a very special screening of 1929 documentary Turksib with a live soundtrack by Bronnt Industries Kapital(about the building of a railway in Turkestan and Siberia), and Retrospective screenings dedicated to Japanese actress and director Kinuyo Tanaka.
