LIFF29 Opens with a Magical Night of Film

The LIFF29 Opening Night in partnership with Magical Leeds on 5 November features an exclusive preview of Brooklyn, one of the most acclaimed films of the year, a special screening of Pixar’s latest animated marvel Sanjay’s Super Team, and a glimpse of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with the final trailer, all in the stunning setting of Leeds Town Hall.

Directed by John Crowley and starring Saoirse Ronan, Brooklyn is a wonderful romantic drama adapted by Nick Hornby from Colm Tóibín’s best-selling novel. Eilis is a young Irish woman who leaves her home for New York in the 1950s. Desperately homesick at first, Eilis soon finds romance in Brooklyn, but when a family emergency forces her back to Ireland, she finds herself torn between her personal freedom and her family responsibilities. Sanjay’s Super Team: Opening Short Film + Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Final Trailer

After working on Toy Story 2, Monster’s Inc, and The Incredibles, Pixar artist Sanjay Patel directs his first film, Sanjay’s Super Team, a beautiful and heartwarming animated short about a young Indian boy who is bored of his father’s meditation and daydreams of Hindu gods as superheroes. There’s also a chance to see the breathtaking final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens with its stunning soundtrack in a spectacular concert hall venue.
