Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) returns again this year and we want you to be involved.

Are you passionate about film, world cinema and enjoy being part of something big? Your volunteer journey begins here at LIFF. Running from 1 - 15 November 2018, Volunteers get to be part the team of one of the UK's biggest film events and gain valuable work experience.

Our exceptionally talented Volunteers are the heart of LIFF and are vital to the success of the Festival each and every year. There is the opportunity to assist in a variety of roles:

  • Venue Assistants- These volunteers help to run individual festival screenings, leading on ushering and assisting Venue Coordinators in any way necessary. A passion for cinema and excellent customer service skills are a must.
  • Drivers- We have a limited number of Driver Volunteer positions available, driving our VIP festival guests to and from venues and the airport. You must be over 25 with a full driving license to apply for this position.

  • Festival Runners- Reporting directly to the Production Manager you will be doing a variety of tasks to help the smooth running and operation of the festival. An ability to think on your feet and boundless energy is required.

We are also looking for specialist Volunteers to join our Digital Team. These roles are available for those with experience in photography, videography and social media. The opportunities within this department are as follows:

  • Film Crews- We are looking for production teams who can film festival events. The raw footage will then be passed onto our Festival's editing team. It's a great way to meet the filmmakers, see the big events and to get your work seen by a mass audience.

  • Photographers- You will cover a range of screenings, Q&As and events. You will create a selection of photographs to be used in social media, publications and promotions.

  • Social Media Volunteers- Our audiences like to be able to see what's going on at all the Festival events in real-time. Working closely with our Marketing Team, you will be comfortable using both Instagram and Twitter, be able to take photos of the action and produce snappy copy to describe what is going on.

In exchange for your time, LIFF Volunteers will receive the following benefits:

  • A chance to see new films ahead of their release date or films that won't be widely released in cinemas,

  • Five free tickets plus access to all the films you are working on (usually two films per shift),

  • A free LIFF32 t-shirt,

  • Experiencing a unique festival atmosphere and meeting like minded cinema lovers,

  • and an invite to The Closing Party - especially to say thank you!
