Join us for a screening of the nominees for the BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM at the 2016 Academy Awards, including the Oscar Winner BEAR STORY, and Pixar’s SANJAY’s SUPER TEAM.

The films playing as part of the programme are:

Sanjay’s Super Team
(Dir: Sanjay Patel, US, 2015, 7mins)
LIFF29’s opening short film has everything you would expect from a Pixar Classic. Bored with his father’s meditation, a young Indian boy daydreams of Hindu gods as superheroes.

World Of Tomorrow
(Dir: Don Hertzfeldt, US, 2015, 17mins)
A little girl is taken on a mind-bending tour of her distant future.

Bear Story (Historia de un oso)
(Dir: Gabriel Osorio Vargas, Chile, 2014, 11mins)
The Oscar Winner screened at Leeds International Film Festival in 2014. An old, lonesome bear tells the story of his life through a mechanical diorama.

We Can’t Live Without Cosmos (Mi ne mozhem zhit bez kosmosa)
(Dir: Konstantin Bronzit, Russia, 2014, 16mins)
Screened at Leeds International Film Festival in 2014, it tells the story of two astronauts  who dream of going into space together.

Prologue
(Dir: Richard Williams, UK, 2015, 6mins)
Taking place 2,400 years in the past, Prologue depicts a brutal battle between two teams of Spartan and Athenian warriors.

If I Was God…
(Dir: Cordell Barker,  Canada, 2015, 8mins)
In this short animated film, a Grade 7 boy’s mind starts to wander while dissecting a frog in Biology class. What would you do if you suddenly found yourself charged with God-like powers? Would you use them for good? For bad? Perhaps a little of both? The possibilities seem endless.

A group of meerkats takes care of its beloved and unique fruit near their burrow, but a vulture intends to disturb their peace of mind. A chase begins in the savannah.
