Thought Bubble is a four day annual event celebrating sequential art in all its forms
Everything from superheroes to independent small press. The programme is designed to cater for dedicated comic book fans as well as people who have never picked up a graphic novel before. Following the huge success of the first edition in 2007, this year’s event, taking place 13-16 November, as part of the 22nd Leeds International Film Festival, will include comic book inspired activity for adults and young people in venues across the city. A series of free art and writing based workshops led by industry professionals will compliment a series of sequential art related film screenings which includes; L Change the World, a stunning, action-packed sequel to the Death Note films, two new and unseen live action Manga adaptations, Detroit Metal City and 20th Century Boys and Here’s Johnny examines the work of 2000AD artist John Hicklenton in a thought provoking documentary
This year’s centrepiece attraction will be the second Thought Bubble comic book convention, taking place at Saviles Hall, the largest conference space in Leeds. This special day will feature an incredible line up of leading artists and writers. Special guests include Mark Millar, writer of Wanted and Ultimates, Adi Granov, visionary artist behind Iron Man and making his first UK appearance, Alex Maleev, artist on the critically acclaimed Daredevil comic. Their attendance at the convention will be supported by a diverse range of artists and writers working across a broad spectrum of comics and graphic novels. Aspiring artists can also bring along their portfolios to be viewed by leading Marvel talent spotter C.B. Cebulski and representatives from Dimensional Manga. The day will also include panel discussions, activities for young people and 100 tables selling a huge range of comics and related memorabilia from the biggest and best exhibitors from across the country. EA Games will also present a special interactive installation for their new, comic book inspired game, Dead Space. For all the latest news and updates visit www.thoughtbubblefestival.com
