Everybody needs good neighbours, but these neighbours are the absolute pits. When pathetic husband Atli is caught doing something embarrassing by his wife, he slinks off to live with his parents in their neat suburban terrace. But once there he finds a tense standoff brewing between his iron-willed mother and the younger couple next door. A large overhanging tree between their houses is a major point of strife. Relatable, poignant yet laugh-out-loud funny and full of surprises – including a gory finale, Under the Tree is an audience and critics’ favourite straight from Venice Film Festival and receiving its UK Premiere at LIFF 2017.
