"Carmen Jaquier’s inquisitive Thunder is a rapturous feature debut that is as earnest in its pursuit of catharsis as it is accepting of its inability to be an individual in a God-fearing world." - Christopher Cross, Tilt Magazine

Carmen Jaquier’s debut feature is a fiercely independent coming of age tale and a transcendent allegory of the power of female sexuality. Set in 1900, in a beautiful Alpine valley in Southern Switzerland, the story follows 17 year old Elisabeth, who is about to take her vows when the sudden death of her older sister forces her to leave the convent and return to the family farm. Stifled by the suffocating and strict rules of the village and obsessed by the mysteries surrounding her sister's disappearance, she fights for her right to experiment.
