The 37th edition of Leeds International Film Festival will take place between 3 - 19 November. We are currently looking for Venue Assistants and Festival Trainees and several Digital Content Team roles (see below).

We are looking for people to join the LIFF 2023 volunteer team who are:

  • Passionate about film, especially independent British and international filmmaking;
  • Reliable and available across at least four different days during the LIFF 2023 dates;
  • Enjoys being part of a team and collaborating with others;
  • Driven to help make LIFF one of the best audience experiences in the UK.

Production Volunteer Roles

Venue Assistants: These volunteers help to run individual festival screenings, leading on ushering and assisting Venue Coordinators with scanning tickets and reporting technical faults at screenings. A passion for film and excellent customer service skills are a must!

Festival Trainees: This role is for those who want more behind-the-scenes experience of LIFF get more insight into areas like programming, production, partnership development, and marketing.

Digital Content Volunteer Roles

We are also looking for specialist Volunteers to join our Digital Content Volunteers Team. Digital Content volunteers will work closely with our Communications Team during the festival to help create content and promote the festival. This year we’re working on improving the digital experience with more collaborative work with other volunteers, a chance to have more creative input from start to finish and new creative roles that do not require any equipment.

Videographers: You’ll work with Video Coordinators and Edit Assistants, capturing film festival events and creating promotional material for the festival. It's a great way to experience special events and behind the scenes whilst capturing the vibe of the festival. Ideal for budding videographers that are keen to expand their experience. Videographers need to provide their own camera equipment.

Video Coordinators: You’ll work closely with the videographers, helping to creatively plan shoots, conduct interviews, collect permission forms, set up shoots and oversee the editing process. It would suit someone with creative flair, who is confident at talking to the public and who has an understanding of how a shoot is put together. No equipment is required for this role.

Edit Assistants: You will work closely with the Videographers and Production Assistants, using Adobe Premiere Pro to transferring footage and create clips and highlights to be featured on our online platforms. Equipment & software can be provided for this role.

Photographers: You will cover a range of screenings, Q&As and other behind-the-scenes events. You will create a selection of photographs to be used online for social media, publications and promotions that show off the festival, perfect for anybody with a passion for photography or someone looking to expand their portfolio. Photographers must use their own photography equipment.

Social Media Content Creators: Working in small teams, you will use your phone to create fun content for our social media platforms during the festival. You’ll be covering all the latest events and screenings at the festival, taking photos/videos of the action and engaging copy that highlights various aspects of the festival. Great for people looking for more experience in digital marketing and social media. Social Media Content Creators must use their own mobile phones.
