In light of the current situation we are continuing to follow very closely all government advice relating to the Coronavirus, which includes guidance in terms of large scale events and gatherings. In line with government guidance, Leeds City Council isn’t currently advising stopping or limiting public gatherings. As a large local authority, it’s important we follow this advice.

We have taken the following precautionary measures at all of our events:

  • Placed hand sanitisers at the entrance to events.
  • In-house cleaning teams are cleaning hand to contact surfaces before and after the events.
  • Where possible we are increasing ventilation and reducing heating.

In specific relation to  Leeds Young Film Festival 2020, we are working closely with the Council’s Health & Safety team and having risk assessed all the activities being offered, we are cancelling some events and adjusting the format of others in order to mitigate these risks.

The following events have been cancelled:

  • VR Zone
  • Meet the Aardman Animator Special Event
  • Aardman Model Making Workshop
  • Makeup and SFX Workshop
  • Climate Clips Filmmaking Workshop

If you have booked onto any of the above events, Leeds City Council Box Office will be in touch with further details shortly.

There may be further developments and we will be monitoring the situation closely, but at present Leeds Young Film Festival 2020 is still planned to go ahead. We will let you know if this changes.
