Criterion Collection

We're delighted to be working with Sony Home Entertainment to give away two bundles of newly released Blu-rays from The Criterion Collection's exceptional series of classic and contemporary cinema each month.

For a chance to win August'new releases, answer the following question: Vittorio Di Sica also directed which 1948 neorealist Italian Oscar nominated, and BAFTA winning film?*

Entries close on Wednesday 31st August 2022 on 11:59pm

The bundle of new releases for August 2022 includes:

Umberto D. (1952) - A heart breaking, neo-realist Italian classic. Umberto D. follows a pensioner just trying to make ends meet in post-war Italy. With only his dog, Flike, for comfort, the city around him has forgone kindness in favour of moderisation.

The Breaking Point (1950) -
The thrilling story of an honest, charter-boat captain who, facing hard times, takes on dangerous cargo to save his boat, support his family, and preserve his dignity. Charting a course between daylight noir and working class tragedy.

The Big Chill (1983) - When a friend takes their own life, the group reconnect (now in their thirties) for the funeral. A literal star studded cast and with a brilliant sixties and R&B soundtrack to boot, this warmly humourous yet poignant ensemble film is a decade defining film.
