A gripping mountaineering docudrama about an incredible survival story, a pinnacle of mountain films.

Kevin MacDonald’s Touching the Void is based on the bestselling book by climber Joe Simpson, the film retells the story of two young men who set out in 1985 to be the first to climb the Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes. Intense filmed interviews with Simpson and his climbing partner Simon Yates recount their success in reaching the summit, only for it to turn into disaster on the treacherous descent. Simpson fell and broke his leg, dangling from a 300m rope above a deep crevasse. Nail biting dramatised sequences complement the first person testimony.

‘Now there is a movie more frightening than my nightmares. Touching the Void is the most harrowing movie about mountain climbing I have seen, or can imagine.’ - Roger Ebert
