Desperately Seeking Susan: 40th Anniversary
Bored housewife Roberta (Rosanna Arquette) becomes obsessed with the love story between free-spirited Susan (Madonna) and Jim through messages between them in the personal ads of a newspaper. When she decides to spy on their meetup in person, a series of events and a bout of amnesia lead to Roberta being mistaken for Susan herself, putting her life in danger as she embarks on a wild goose chase of mistaken identities, missed connections and mobsters. Noted for its impact on 1980s fashion and hailed as a feminist classic upon its release, Susan Seidelman’s screwball comedy is just as entertaining and relevant 40 years later.
