The INDIs Young Filmmaker Awards returns for its 8th edition with a showcase of the best new short films from up and coming young filmmakers from around the country.

The shortlisted films have been selected from over 400 submissions and are presented in three age categories: 15-18, 19-21 and 22-25. The winner in each category will be chosen by a jury of industry professionals at the event and will receive a cash prize of £250, sponsored by Leeds City College and the IAC with additional prizes from post-production house Sticks and Glass.

The final selection of films in each category have now been announced.

Kathryn is a former sketch comedian who spent nine years performing with sketch comedy troupe The Dog-Eared Collective, culminating in appearing on BBC One prank show Richard Hammond's Secret Service (2013) and also in cult mockumentary The Art Bastard Show (LIFF selection, 2016).
 
Since becoming a solo actor, she has continued in comedy - working with Michael Cumming (Brass Eye, Toast Of London) in the 2018 Cravendale 'Moonicow' campaign and touring comic theatre shows across the UK.
 
Alongside performing, she has written comedy for BBC Radio Scotland (Lewis McLeod's Wired News, 2016) and co-wrote the short film Working Late which won the Harrogate Film Festival Critics Choice Award 2017.
 
She has appeared in some acclaimed short films, including Polterheist (for which she won 6 Best Actor awards 2016-17) and ELI by Colin Gerrard. Plus, her own comic short 'Reverse Darwinism' was released earlier this year - and to date has won Best Actress (Top Indie Film Awards, 2019) Best Comedy Short (Genre Celebration Festival, 2019) and an Honourable Mention from the London-Worldwide Comedy Short Film Festival.
