Revolution takes many forms: whether it begins at home or out on the streets. The first programme in the Academy-Award qualifying International Short Film Competition is a showcase of protest through the personal, the political, and the phantom! We encounter the unusual social survival skills of a young care-giver; the lengths taken by grieving parents to protest against the police; the strange tale of an Iranian teenager and her imposed orthodontic headgear; the pressures of an arranged marriage in Sudan; and the glorious tale of a delivery worker in Brazil rising up against the gig economy.

This short film programme contains adult themes, scenes of bereavement, discrimination, and references to sexual assault and suicide.

The International Short Film Competition is made up of 6 programmes. See also Competition 2, Competition 3, Competition 4, Competition 5 & Competition 6
