Between the country and the city lies a border where past and present, tradition and modernity form an unruly frontier. These six films signify the intensity of these pressures: a revelatory encounter between a cook and an illegal Afghan immigrant; a journey to a public hospital resulting in an unholy marital collision; a young girl in Sichuan departing for the city to save her dying father; a woman taking on the entire Georgian city; and the surprising encounter between a Hasidic Jewish girl and the hip-hop beats of 1990s Brooklyn.

This short film programme contains scenes with adult themes, religious discrimination, sexism, and abuse.
