For our mid festival party, anyone can be a star for the night! As part of BFI Musicals, join Live Cinema UK to celebrate musicals of both stage and screen, and choose to sing or lip sync so you can live out your musical theatre fantasy regardless of your singing ability. Featuring a box of wardrobe and props to add that extra sparkle to your time in the spotlight, plus guest performers for additional fabulousness, choose any song, sing it or lip sync it, and there’s only one rule: it’s got to be from a musical!

Presented by Live Cinema UK as part of BFI Musicals! The Greatest Show on Screen, a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery, BFI Film Audience Network and ICO.

Lisa Brook, Live Cinema UK

Lisa is the Founder and Director of Live Cinema UK, establishing the organisation in 2014 to support the national live cinema sector. Lisa fell in love with live cinema events whilst working in her previous roles at Sheffield Doc/Fest and Leeds International Film Festival, and not finding a national organisation to advise on producing work for big screens with extra live performance and interactivity, she set up Live Cinema UK to do just that.

Since 2014, Live Cinema UK has grown to become the country’s leading organisation dedicated to producing, promoting and researching live cinema events, reaching over 400,000 live audience members, and collaborating with over 60 partners across more than 10 countries. Based in West Yorkshire, we curate innovative programmes and new art works inspired by the moving image. Live Cinema UK produce and support film events which contain a live element or additional activity. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Live Soundtracks
  • Interactive Technology
  • Theatrical Performances
  • Non-traditional Venues
  • Archive Film

In response to the rise of video on demand streaming services, Live Cinema UK aim to bring audiences out of their homes to enjoy cinematic experiences together in a social and creative environment. As the UK’s only organisation focused on bringing artists, exhibitors, distributors and producers closer together, we strongly believe in the importance of partnership and collaboration and have worked with cinemas and venue across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia to create amazing experiential cinema events.
