Story producer Sophie Roper and Script Editor Gareth Phillips from ITV Studio's Emmerdale will give you an insight into the script process. Come and understand what a treatment is, how to write/format one and how/when it is used in the production process.

Bring your initial story idea and Sophie and Gareth will help you plan your treatment and give you enough knowledge to write your own.

You must be over 15 to attend this workshop. Under 18s will be required to complete a consent form signed by a parent or guardian.

Sophie Roper, ITV Story Producer

Sophie Roper is an experienced Story Producer, working within continuing drama. Sophie has a wealth of knowledge and experience working within the television industry in both television production and editorial and has worked on shows including Coronation Street and Emmerdale. A passionate and innovative storyteller, Sophie works closely with writers and producers to create compelling drama that continues to entertain and challenge audiences.

 

Gareth Phillips, ITV Script Editor

Gareth began his drama career as a storyline writer for Coronation Street. During his time on Corrie he progressed to the role of assistant producer. From there, Gareth went on to develop and produce the teen musical drama series Britannia High. Gareth then took the reins as series producer of Hollyoaks. In 2012, Gareth moved to Ireland and served as consultant on popular Irish soap, Fair City, and then took on the role of executive producer of police drama Red Rock. Since returning to the UK, Gareth has been working at Emmerdale as a script editor.
