Who we are

We are Leeds International Film Festival part of Arts and Venues in the Development Department of Leeds City Council. Our main place of business is: Leeds Film Office, Town Hall, The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 3AD. Throughout these terms and conditions when we mention ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’ etc, we mean leedsfilm.com. When we refer to ‘you’ we mean the user and/or browser or our site.

Terms and conditions

These are the terms and conditions for leedsfilm.com and this is a legally binding contract between you and us. From your first use of the website, you agree to accept the terms and conditions. If you do not accept these terms and conditions you should stop using our website immediately. We reserve the right to make changes to the terms and conditions which will take effect from the date of posting. Your continued use of the site will mark your acceptance of these changes to the terms and conditions.

Linking to us


Prior to providing a link to our website you must get in touch and seek our permission. To do this, please email leeds.film@leeds.gov.uk with details of the URL to which you wish to link. We do not permit the display of our web pages on any other URL unless we have given permission to do this.

All content is copyright to Leeds International Film Festival 2021 unless otherwise stated. You may view the website information in a web browser for private browsing purposes only. For any other purposes, you will need written consent which may be granted at our discretion. Occasionally we may publish images or text in which the copyright is not owned by us. Where this is applicable we have acknowledged the copyright owner.

Personal data and privacy


Where appropriate we will hold your name and email address which we will call “Personal Data”. We may also collect personal information from you when you are purchasing tickets from our website. We will not pass your personal data to any third parties unless we have received your express permission to do so.

Leedsfilm.com makes use of “cookies”. “Cookies” are data which are held in your web browser. They do not in themselves identify who you are or your other personal data to us. They do allow us to monitor your use of our site.

Our main aim of holding your personal data is to help us improve our customer relationships. If you do have any questions about our use of your personal data, please email leeds.film@leeds.gov.uk. We will investigate all complaints and take appropriate action.

So far as lawfully possible, we exclude all liability to you in contract or negligence (other than negligence by us which gives rise to personal injury or death). We also exclude liability for any consequential or indirect loss which may be caused to you by us.

Conditions of Sale

Tickets are sold by Leeds City Council, Leeds City Centre Box Office, Leeds Town Hall, The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 3AD on behalf of producers, promoters and event organisers, including Leeds City Council events and seasons. When booking you acknowledge that you agree to the following terms and conditions:

Ticket purchases

  1. Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase, except in the case of a materially altered or cancelled performance/event. This does not affect your statutory rights.
  2. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to check all tickets at the time of purchase or on arrival (by post/email), and to promptly make the box office team aware of any mistakes so they can be rectified.
  3. Tickets must not be sold or resold without the express permission of Leeds City Centre Box Office and the promoter of the event.
  4. Any resale, or attempt to sell tickets at a higher price than originally purchased, will result in the order being cancelled without prior notification.
  5. When booking discounted tickets, proof of eligibility is required. Tickets may be held at box office whilst proof is checked or requested on entry to the venue.
  6. All ticket prices quoted are for tickets purchased in advance of the event. The promoter reserves the right to change the advertised price at any time.

Booking Fees

  1. A booking fee, currently 6% of the total booking, is applied to all transactions made through Leeds City Centre Box Office.

Your visit

  1. Latecomers may not be allowed entry to screenings, or might be asked to wait until a suitable break in the event to be admitted. At times, latecomers may be asked to sit in a different seat to the one booked to limit disturbance to fellow audience members.
  2. The unauthorised use of cameras, mobile phones, video or other form or recording equipment is strictly prohibited.
  3. On occasion either Leeds City Council or a permitted third party may carry out general filming, photography and sound recording in or about the venue.  By purchasing tickets you consent to you and your party being included in and to the exploitation of such films, photographs and recordings without payment.
  4. Only food and drink purchased on the premises may be consumed on the premises.
  5. Neither the promoter nor the management accept responsibility for personal property brought into the venue unless caused by the negligence of the promoter or venue management.

Security checks

  1. For the safety and comfort of all customers, bags larger than a handbag will not be permitted into the auditorium.
  2. We ask that you leave large bags at home. When this is not possible any larger bags may have to be stored away (a charge may apply).
  3. The management reserves the right to carry out bag/property checks when necessary. Anyone who declines a search will not be admitted.

Children

  1. Children under 3 may not be admitted unless the performance is specifically for young children. Tickets are required for any child aged 12 months+ that attends a performance. Babes in arms (under 12 months) do not require a ticket.
  2. Parents are reminded that some performances are not suitable for young children.
  3. We do not advise that children under 14 attend screenings without a responsible adult and venue staff accept no responsibility for any unaccompanied children under 16.
  4. If your child is causing a disturbance to other customers, you will be asked to remove them from the auditorium and no refunds will be given.
  5. Age guidance may relate to themes of an adult nature, language, nudity or themes/content considered unsuitable for younger audiences.

General Terms

  1. The management reserves the right to change the advertised arrangements of any performance in the event of illness or any cause beyond our reasonable control. This includes the non-appearance of any named artist.
  2. The management reserves the right to refuse admission or to eject a ticket holder (and take appropriate action to enforce this right) for behaviour likely to cause damage, injury, nuisance or annoyance or failure to comply with the reasonable requests of venue staff. If admission is refused no monies shall be refunded.
  3. The management reserves the right to reallocate the booked seat without refund.
  4. Processing fees will not be refunded in the event of a cancellation or rescheduled performance.
  5. Special Offers: When advertised special offers may be subject to availability and restrictions. No two offers can be used in conjunction with one another. For clarity, a special offer is any offer that isn't a standard price or concession ticket. Special offers include (but are not limited to) subscriptions, family tickets, group rates, and early bird discounts.
