Applications open for BFI Film Academy Introductory Courses Leeds & Bradford
Young people in Leeds and Bradford looking to take their first steps into the film and television industry will have the opportunity to get hands-on filmmaking experience through the BFI Film Academy Yorkshire & The Humber Introductory Courses. Delivered by Leeds Young Film in partnership with Showroom Cinema, the courses are designed for young people aged 16–19, or up to 25 with an EHC Plan or equivalent, who are interested in exploring the creative, technical or business side of the screen industries. Taking part offers the chance to learn from expert industry mentors and filmmakers, meet like-minded people and discover the many different roles involved in bringing a film to life. Participants will work collaboratively as part of a film crew, gaining experience across the filmmaking process and creating a short film from start to finish.
No previous filmmaking experience is required, and the courses are completely free to take part in, with bursaries also available to help with travel and childcare costs. For young people who are interested in working in film and television but aren't sure where to begin, the BFI Film Academy Introductory Courses offer an opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills and make connections within the industry.
